Keep up the great work!

From Mr. Conroy and Ms. Pazornik
Hello Forest Ridge Families,
Our first week was a huge success!  Our students learned their new routines and worked on establishing relationships.  We walked around and visited each classroom, lunches and recesses throughout the week.  It was great seeing our students back and engaged in learning. We look forward to seeing our families Back to School Night on 9/18 & 9/19.

Just a few updates:

  • In order to get our Kindergarten students through the lunch line quicker and with the help of the Kindergarten teachers we are switching the lunch and recess times for just Kindergarten.  The adjusted times are:

    • Lunch:  10:35 - 11:05

    • Recess:  11:05 - 11:35

  • Just a reminder we will be making adjustments to the Homeroom classes to better meet our students' academic needs.  If changes are made, you will receive a phone call from your child’s teacher.

  • Please continue to review with your child their dismissal procedures.  Many students forget over the weekend.

Have an awesome weekend!
Mr. Conroy and Ms. Pazornik

Individual Picture Day
Picture Day is Tuesday, September 10.  Pre-order cards came home this week.  Picture money envelopes will come home on Monday, Sept. 9.

Family File
We are now up to 83% of our families who have completed their Family File.  Parents must update their student’s Emergency Card via the Family File on the HCPSS Connect each year.  If you have not completed your Family File, please visit:https://www.hcpss.org/connect/
NOTE:  We have a number of field trips coming up this year.  If we do not have an updated family file for your child, he or she will not be permitted to attend since we won't have updated emergency information.

From the FRES PTA President...
Hello FRES Families!!

This first week of school flew by!  I hope it was a fun week back for everyone. We hope your little ones love the rainbow highlighter from PTA!  We’ll have extras for purchase at Back-to-School Night.

PTA Back-to-School packets came home this week.  Included in the packet is:

  • A list of important dates and PTA events.
  • Our annual report which highlights the many ways the PTA supports our students, staff, and families.
  • A PTA membership form.
  • A Volunteer form describing ways you can volunteer.

Finally, the PTA coordinates some retail & grocery rewards programs that directly benefit the school or the PTA.  Find out how the Box Tops program has changed this year and how you can scan your receipts to earn money for FRES.  You can also find information on after school activities on the PTA website (https://frespta.org/about-us/after-school-activities/).

This coming Tuesday, September 10th is our first PTA meeting at 7pm in the Cafeteria.Childcare will be provided for your students!  Come meet the Board members and committee heads and find out how you can get involved.  Mr. Conroy, Ms. Pazornik, CAC Chair Pratima Lele, and BOE Representative Vicky Cutroneo will also be there to connect with our FRES families.

On Friday, September 13th PTA will hold an evening of exercise and FUN at our Skate Night at Laurel Roller Skating Center on Rt. 1 and Brewers Court.  Skate from 7pm - 9pm for $9, including skate rental.  Tell them you’re with FRES to get this special price.  While this is not meant to be a fundraiser, part of the evening’s proceeds do go back to FRES PTA.  All participants who use the FRES special price must sign a waiver at the door.

Restaurant Nights provide another opportunity to connect with FRES families.  Be sure to stop by Chipotle at Corridor Marketplace (off of 198 in Laurel) on Tuesday, September 24th anytime from 5pm - 9pm.  Flyers will go out later this month.  Be sure to show them the flyer, pull it up on your phone, or mention that you’re there for the FRES Restaurant Night and we can earn 33% of the proceeds!

On Wednesday, September 25th, please plan to attend the Wellness Walk and Ice Cream Social.  Families will walk around the bus loop from 6-6:30pm and then head in to the Cafeteria for ice cream served by many of our wonderful FRES staff until 7:30pm!

We hope to see you at some of these events. Have a fantastic weekend!

Harris Teeter - Grocery Rewards Spotlight
FRES participates in Harris Teeter’s Together in Education program to help raise funds for our school. It’s easy and it’s FREE. Simply give the cashier our code, 7900, and your VIC card when you check out, and your card will be linked for the entire school year. That’s it! You only have to link your VIC card once each school year. Once your card is linked, FRES will receive a percentage of your Harris Teeter brand (Harris Teeter, H.T. Traders, Harris Teeter Organics, HT Farmers Market, and purchases in the HT Pharmacy) purchases credited back to our account. This program does not interfere with your VIC savings or cost you any money!  Thank you for your support.
