From Our Administrators...

Hello FRES Community,
It was so good to see everyone at the PTA's "Ready, Tech, Go!" event on Wednesday!  The students participated in activities which promoted "unplugging" from electronics while their parents learned how to determine when their child is ready for a phone and how to set digital expectations.  They also were able to share their experiences and concerns.  The evening was informative for parents, and fun for the students.  Thank you, FRES PTA!

Next week is another busy one here at FRES!  On May 31 our 3rd graders are going on a field trip and that evening our orchestra, band, and chorus students will perform at Hammond High School.  On June 1, our 5th graders will be visiting Patuxent Valley Middle School, and on Friday, June 2 those same 5th grade students will participate in their Simulated Congressional Hearing. The week ends with a dance for 5th grade students. (Volunteers are needed.  5th grade parents, please consider volunteering at https://frespta.ptboard.com/sgnvw.)

Enjoy your long weekend, and we will see you back at FRES on Tuesday, May 30.

Mr. Conroy and Ms. Pazornik

Forest Ridge News...

From the Media Center
G’readings FRES Families,
The Forest Ridge Book Swap is quickly approaching! The Book Swap is an opportunity for your child to recycle books and to get different books to read over the summer.  Your student will bring home a form at this end of this week. Please send completed form and books in next week.

  • Week of May 30-June 2nd: your child can bring in books that are in good condition (no tears, watermarks, etc.) with the form below. We can accept picture books and chapter books that are appropriate for elementary aged students–please no religious books or board books.
  • Between June 6th and June 12th: your child will  choose a different book(s) to take home, based on the number of books they brought in to swap.

We are also accepting additional donations.  If you have any books you would like to donate for the Book Swap we would truly appreciate the contribution.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Tordella, heather_tordella@hcpss.org.  Thank you and happy swapping!
