Family File
NOTE: We have a number of field trips coming up this year. If we do not have an updated family file for your child, he or she will not be permitted to attend since we won't have updated emergency information.
Technology News
Each week your child attends technology class where he/she is learning how to use various programs on the laptops. Some of these programs require sound. We are not always able to use this feature because of the distraction it would cause fellow classmates. In order to utilize the sound feature, we are providing the following options for students at FRES:
If you choose for your child to bring in his/her own headphones, please send them in a zip-lock bag with your child’s name on it. Headphones will be kept in the classroom where students can access them for instruction or testing, and will be carried to technology class in a bin.
Canvas Information
HCPSS teachers use Canvas, a Learning Management System, for instruction and family communication at all grade levels. As a parent, you have access to these courses as an observer. To learn more about Canvas and to ensure that you are being notified when announcements are sent, visit https://www.hcpss.org/connect/guides/
If you have any questions, please contact me at school or email me at clair_wise@hcpss.org. Thank you for supporting technology at Forest Ridge!

From the FRES PTA President...
Hello FRES families!
We are two weeks into the school year already! Thank you to everyone who attended our PTA meeting on Tuesday. Special thanks to Mr. Conroy, Ms. Pazornik, CAC Chair (and FRES mom!) Pratima Lele, and BOE Rep Vicky Cutroneo for giving our families updates at the school and county levels. We had a great turnout and discussed all the wonderful events we plan throughout the year. Meeting minutes are already available on www.frespta.org under the “About Us” tab. Mark your calendars for our next PTA meeting on October 1st in the Media Center at 7pm.
The PTA will have a membership table at both Back to School Nights, so if you haven’t had a chance to meet us or sign up for membership, please stop by!
Next week, we are also sponsoring a breakfast for our Paraeducators. Our para-educators work directly with our teachers and students to provide additional supports. They are an integral part of the school and the PTA is excited to show them some love! Please see below for the SignUp Genius link to donate items.
Lastly, our first Skate Night is tonight at Laurel Skate Center on Rt. 1 and Brewers Court. Skate from 7 -10pm for $9, which includes skates. Say you’re with FRES to get the special price. Come on out with other FRES friends for an evening of exercise and FUN! All participants who use the FRES special price must sign a waiver at the door.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Khaleda Hasan, FRES PTA President
