Hello FRES Families,
Our new schedule began on March 1st for ALL students. Our teachers will be teaching students in person and students who are virtual at the same time. Please be patient with us as we transition the students in the building to each subject. There may be a little lag in starting some of the Google Meets when teachers need to pick up students from other class areas.
Just a reminder, students will come back in the following phases:
March 15 – Hybrid students in grades PK, K, 1, 2 (Group A)
March 18 - Hybrid students in grades PK, K, 1, 2 (Group B)
March 29 – Hybrid students in grades 3, 4, 5 (Group A)
April 1 - Hybrid students in grades 3, 4, 5 (Group B)
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mr. Conroy and Ms. Pazornik
The FRES staff would like to thank our families who have sent us items from the PTA Wishlist. Our staff is already using them and we appreciate your generosity!

Picture Day Will Look a Little Different This Year
The pandemic can't stop us from having Picture Day! Students who attend on "A" day will have their photographs taken on April 27; students receiving virtual-only instruction will be photographed on April 28; and those students attending on "B" Days will have their pictures taken on April 29. All orders will be placed online and mailed to parents. Details will be shared as the dates get closer.
Return Media Books- If you still have HCPSS media books (from any school), you may return them at FRES during school hours in the drop-off bin or book cart in the main vestibule.
If your student is coming into the school building to learn, please be sure to send their headphones, their Chromebook fully charged, and their charger.
If your Chromebook has been having audio or video issues, try the Refresh and/or Reset process. The link provided has video directions to guide you.
The Media/Tech staff would like to thank our FRES families for taking such great care of their Chromebooks. If you are preparing to come back into the building, or staying virtual, we’d like to remind you of some of the best practices and HCPSS Guidelines for HCPSS Chromebook use.
How to Clean your Chromebook - Please clean your Chromebook every few days to help limit the spread of germs between school and home and to keep the keyboard dust-free.
Chromebook Troubleshooting and Management - This will help you troubleshoot and fix most issues.
FRES Tech Help Complete this form if you have support needs beyond what is listed from the Chromebook Troubleshooting link above.
Parental Controls - If you have concerns about your child’s screen time on applications and sites outside of school time, or even during class time, we suggest that you visit your Internet provider site. There you will find an explanation of parental controls that will help you manage your child’s interaction with Internet use and accessibility.
If you do not have a Chromebook case for your child, an environmentally friendly solution is to use a padded mailing envelope (such as Amazon) for transport in the backpack. This will provide additional protection when being carried back and forth.

The Dance Obsession is a community program that offers free dance lessons to youth ages 9-14 (4th-8th Grades). Based in Howard County MD, our goal is to offer an opportunity to anyone who wants to learn how to dance without enrolling at a dance studio, or to anyone who is looking for a virtual extra-curricular program. Through this initiative, we hope to promote diversity and inclusion within the Howard County dance departments and in the dance community as a whole.
Taught by advanced level dancers from Howard County high schools, you can trust that The Dance Obsession will prepare you for dance classes/teams at your future high school and beyond! Our sessions will be held through Google Meet, using your HCPSS student account. If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org!
We will meet every Wednesday from 2-3 PM. Our start date is March 24th and the end date is May 19th! The last day to sign up is March 17th! PLEASE submit ONE response. We are accepting the FIRST 50 students that sign up (PLEASE only sign up if you will actually attend)! We cannot wait to dance with you!"
This program is teacher-advised by Brooke Kuhl-McClelland email@example.com (Hammond High School Dance Director/HCPSS Head of Dance) and Holli Tucci firstname.lastname@example.org (Oakland Mills High School Dance Director), so feel free to email them if you have any questions.
