PTA News

It may be dark for a little bit in the morning again, but I love LOVE how it stays lighter longer.  It’s a hint that Spring and warmer weather are on the way.  Can’t wait!

We are fast approaching our May meeting, when we need to vote on our new FRES PTA Board.  OUR PTA needs YOU!!  This spring there will be a switch over of the Board.  We are looking for new faces and fresh ideas for our PTA.  I will be stepping down as the President, along with the 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary and Treasurer.  Even though we are stepping down, we are VERY willing to help with the transition and would not leave anyone hanging.  If you think you are willing to consider a position, please don’t hesitate to contact me and we can chat- no strings attached.  Get those nominations in!

Can you believe our last skate night of the year is just around the corner?  On Friday, March 23, from 7-10, round up all your friends, where ANY FRES Spirit Wear (or blue and yellow) and join other FRES families for one last roll around the rink.   The grade with the most classmates in attendance will win a prize.   As always, say you’re with FRES and admission and skate rental is discounted to $9 total.  What a bargain!

The cookbooks are Coming! The cookbooks are Coming!  Order forms will be coming home next week.  Use the attached form to sell to neighbors, friends and relatives!  For just $7, you will receive recipes from FRES families to enjoy for years to come.  In honor of our 25th Birthday let’s Celebrate the rich cultures in our community by trying these tried and true family favorites.  Return order form and all money in an envelope with your child’s name on it to your child’s teacher by April 13.

Calling all FRES talent!!!  It’s time for all of that FRES talent to come out, SHINE and be the Super Stars we know they are!  That’s right- forms will be coming out at the end of the month to start auditioning for this year’s Variety Show.  Until then, be thinking about an act you or a group of friends may want to perform.  Singing, dancing, playing an instrument, magic tricks, gymnastics, ANYTHING.  It’s time to show us that talent!

Another popular tradition coming up is our Annual Spring Online Auction.  This is a huge fundraiser and helps us to sponsor the many activities we do throughout the year.  If you have a small business, have a restaurant that you frequent or a talent you can share, be on the lookout for the form coming out asking for your donations.  The Auction, itself, will be the end of April, but NOW is the time to start collecting donations.  Thank you so much in advance for considering helping us with this “FUN-draiser”.

Have a great St. Patrick’s Day weekend!

Registration Open for Spring Coding Classes at FRES - Boys & Girls Grades 2-5
In Silver Knights Coding classes, children create stories, games and animations using a visual programming language called Scratch. It’s as easy to use as snapping together building blocks! Projects like mazes and platform games make learning logic, coding, and animation fun and creative. Our curriculum teaches new coders the basics while challenging more experienced coders to create increasingly complex programs. We do different projects every session, so material doesn’t repeat. Each child takes home a USB with all their programs on the last day! Classes meet Fridays beginning March 23 and run through May 25. Cost is $154 for the session. Register online. Questions? Contact
