18   Kindergarten Gingerbread House Night Happy November, FRES families!

Last week’s Movie Night and Halloween Dance were a ton of fun!  Thank you to all the families who volunteered and attended to make the events amazing!

My family and I had a delicious meal at Restaurant Night at Red Hot & Blue on Tuesday.  It was lovely to see so many FRES families enjoying the evening out and supporting FRES!

Some folks have asked if the woman on the screensavers at Savage Library is me.  Yes, that’s me!!  I was attending the Howard County Library System’s annual Longest Table event with FRES media specialist Mrs. Edmondson, where we came together with Howard County residents from diverse backgrounds from all over the county to break bread and have meaningful conversations!

Our next PTA Meeting is on Tuesday, November 5, in the Media Center at 7 pm.  We will have childcare (thanks to Mrs. Lindenmann!) for your school-aged children, and snacks, including some tasty bread donated by Texas Roadhouse.  In addition to regular PTA business, we will also be discussing school redistricting (school boundary review process) since the Board of Education is currently taking feedback from the community to inform their decisions.  We hope to demystify the process and discuss how this may impact FRES families.

Finally, this year – with the help of dedicated FRES parent Korin Sharp – the PTA is partnering with the school to participate in the National PTA School of Excellence Program, which was designed to "grow partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students."  A brief 20 question baseline survey is Step 2 in an 8 step process to become designated as a National PTA School of Excellence.

The anonymous survey can be completed online or look for the paper version in your child's take home folder.  Please complete either the paper survey and send it in with your child or complete the online survey by next Monday, November 11.  We thank you in advance for participating and sharing your opinions!

Have a great weekend!

Khaleda Hasan, FRES PTA President

Skate Night
Roll on by for our next Skate Night next Friday, November 8 at Laurel Roller Skating Center on Rt. 1 and Brewers Court.  Skate from 7 – 10pm for $9, which includes skate rental.  Say you’re with FRES to get the special price.  All participants who use the FRES special price must sign a waiver at the door.

Restaurant Night
Our next restaurant “night” is at Panda Express in Laurel on Route 1.  It runs ALL DAY on Wednesday, November 13 from 11am to 9:30pm!  Show the printed or
digital flyer when you order so we can get back some of the proceeds.  Be sure to mark it on your calendar!
